During my 3-week L1 robotics course, I embarked on an exciting journey into the world of robotics, exploring fundamental concepts such as programming, electronics, and mechanical design. The course offered a hands-on approach, allowing me to actively engage with real-world robotics challenges, which significantly enriched my learning experience. Each week presented new tasks that required applying problem-solving skills and creative thinking to build and program functional robots. The satisfaction of overcoming these challenges deepened my interest in robotics and boosted my confidence in tackling new and unfamiliar topics.
Learning Outcome 2 (LO2) was demonstrated throughout the course as I encountered various technical and conceptual challenges. One major hurdle was understanding complex programming logic needed to control the robot’s movements and sensors. Initially, it felt daunting, but by persevering through trial and error and seeking assistance when needed, I developed new skills in coding and debugging. These experiences taught me the importance of resilience and adaptability in the learning process, as I gradually became more proficient in programming and troubleshooting robotics systems.
The course also helped me meet Learning Outcome 1 (LO1), which involves identifying my own strengths and areas for growth. Through frequent self-assessments and feedback from instructors, I recognized that my strength lay in mechanical design, where I could easily grasp the construction and functionality of robot components. However, I also identified a need for growth in programming, as I initially struggled with understanding coding languages. By setting specific goals to improve my programming skills, such as practicing coding exercises and experimenting with new functions, I was able to make significant progress in this area by the end of the course.
Overall, the L1 robotics course was a rewarding experience that not only expanded my technical skills but also helped me grow personally by overcoming challenges and identifying key areas for improvement.
