The alumni reunion held on December 23rd was an enriching CAS experience where I actively demonstrated LO3: Initiate and plan a CAS experience, LO4: Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience, and LO5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

LO3: Initiate and plan a CAS experience
The event required meticulous planning, from brainstorming creative ideas to organizing activities and logistics. Despite the tight timeline provided by our supervisors, I took the initiative to develop a structured plan for the event. This involved dividing tasks among team members, sourcing materials for decorations, and ensuring every detail aligned with our goal of creating a memorable experience for the alumni. The successful execution of the event showcased my ability to plan effectively and adapt to challenges, such as limited resources and time constraints, while ensuring everything was completed on schedule.

LO4: Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
The preparation process was challenging due to rigid deadlines and the need to complete most tasks within a short timeframe. For instance, all the decorations were handmade, which demanded patience, attention to detail, and consistent effort. There were moments when materials ran out, or ideas didn’t work as planned, but I stayed committed to the project and refused to give up. I learned that perseverance is key when facing pressure and that staying focused on the task at hand can lead to meaningful results.

LO5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
Collaboration was the cornerstone of this event’s success. I worked closely with a team of seven peers, combining our skills to bring the reunion to life. From generating ideas for activities to coordinating efforts for handmade decorations, we relied on each other’s strengths and inputs. One notable instance was attaching handmade hangings to trees, which required teamwork and problem-solving. Through this process, I not only honed my interpersonal skills but also experienced the significant benefits of teamwork, such as shared creativity and efficient task execution.

Overall, this alumni reunion was a rewarding CAS experience that tested my planning, perseverance, and collaboration skills. It helped me grow as an individual and reinforced the value of commitment, teamwork, and effective problem-solving.
