Embarking on my CAS journey at the Surat Animal Shelter has been a profound and rewarding experience, igniting a passion for service and compassion within me. From the moment I stepped through the shelter’s doors, I knew that I was embarking on a transformative journey—one that would not only enrich my own life but also make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals in need. With a commitment to community engagement and a desire to contribute to animal welfare, I eagerly dove into the various tasks and responsibilities that awaited me. Over the course of several weekends, I dedicated myself to assisting the shelter staff in caring for injured and rescued animals, learning about animal behavior, and providing essential support to ensure the well-being of every creature under the shelter’s roof. As I reflect on this incredible journey, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to serve, learn, and grow, and I am excited to share the lessons and experiences that have shaped my CAS endeavor.

LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience:
Throughout my journey at the Surat Animal Shelter, I took the initiative to organize and plan my CAS experience. From scheduling regular visits every weekend to coordinating tasks with the shelter staff, I actively participated in the planning process. By identifying areas where my assistance could be most beneficial, such as helping with the care of injured animals and contributing to the rehabilitation of rescued animals, I demonstrated my ability to initiate and plan a meaningful CAS project.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience:
My commitment to volunteering at the animal shelter was unwavering throughout the duration of the project. Despite facing challenges such as time constraints and the emotional toll of witnessing animal suffering, I persevered with determination and dedication. Whether it was feeding farm animals, cleaning shelter facilities, or learning about animal behavior, I remained steadfast in my commitment to making a positive impact. My consistent attendance and active participation exemplify my perseverance and commitment in this CAS experience.

LO7 – Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions:
Throughout my involvement at the Surat Animal Shelter, I was confronted with ethical considerations regarding animal welfare and care. I recognized the importance of making ethical choices and actions in my interactions with the animals and the shelter environment. By adhering to ethical guidelines and standards, such as providing proper care and treatment to injured animals and respecting their rights, I demonstrated a conscientious approach to my CAS experience.
