CAS Project Donate food

Duration: 3rd October to 7th August

For our most recent CAS project, a group of friends and I collaborated to initiate a much-needed food drive for the local pantry. This experience allowed me to demonstrate several key learning outcomes, including planning and organizing a CAS experience, working collaboratively, and engaging with issues of global significance.

Learning Outcome 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
In planning the logistics, we broke down the experience into clear steps using project management tools. First, we brainstormed how our skills and social networks could best support nutritional and cultural needs. I drafted an outline laying the groundwork for attaining nutritious donations that acknowledge food as a human right. We worked cooperatively to establish responsibilities and timelines to guide our efficient execution.

Learning Outcome 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
Our team demonstrated strong commitment throughout the process. On distribution day, heavy lifting of many bags tested our endurance. However, observing patrons’ gratitude reignited motivation whenever fatigue set in. Thought put into flyer messaging highlighted food insecurity as a global humanitarian issue necessitating community support. While a student-led initiative, we aspired for our compassionate, culturally-aware approach to motivate continued service beyond our drive.

Conclusion
This experience cultivating collaborative planning skills will prove invaluable for future projects addressing sustainability or other worldwide concerns. I am proud our group initiative made real impact through cooperation and perseverance in service of others.
