For the community clean up drives, we went on 4 different days during the time span of 16th January to 13th February. In which we cleaned up large portions of the weed infested in the lake.And went to a nearby places located near the Tapi River. This experience was very new to me, and it was my first time to be part of community cleanup drives, so it was a great learning opportunity for me. I was able to see the impact of our actions and it was truly rewarding to see the lake transformed after our hard work and cleaned land near Tapi River.In the first 2 drives we cleaned up a pond filled with duckweed that were stopping the birds to come to the pond due to lack of oxygen and how it was affecting the entire ecosystem.And the other 2 drives were river and at the end of all the drives I realised how our actions to preserve our nature has significant impact even though it was very short time-period. 

LO2: Demonstrate That Challenges Have Been Undertaken, Developing New Skills

Participating in the community cleanup drives was both challenging and transformative. It was my first time engaging in such an environmental task, and what we undertook was far from easy. Clearing large portions of weed from the pond and cleaning up the land near the Tapi River required physical effort and persistence. Handling the harmful duckweed was particularly demanding, as it required strategic removal to ensure the pond could support wildlife again. Through these challenges, I developed practical skills, such as using tools for clearing weeds efficiently and working carefully to cover large areas. This experience also improved my teamwork abilities, as we had to coordinate our efforts to make sure the tasks were completed effectively and equally. Over the course of these drives, I learnt how to be more patient and persistent, understanding that positive environmental change takes effort and consistency.

LO7: Recognise and Consider the Ethics of Choices and Actions

The cleanup drives made me reflect deeply on the ethics of environmental change. During the first two drives, we learnt how the duckweed was reducing the oxygen in the pond, preventing birds and aquatic life from thriving. It became clear that small changes in ecosystems can have a significant lasting effect, and it strengthened the ethical responsibility we have to care for our environment. By taking action to restore the pond and clean the riverbanks, we contributed to restoring the local ecosystem, Additionally, the drives made me more mindful about how human carelessness and pollution can harm natural habitats, highlighting the importance of collective responsibility. This experience helped me understand that even small acts of care for the environment, such as cleanup efforts, can make a meaningful difference.Moving forward, I find myself committed to continuing to take steps to protect and preserve our environment for future generations.

To conclude, the community clean up drives were a valuable learning experience that helped me develop new skills and highlighted the importance of environmental responsibility, Overcoming the physical challenges of removing the duckweed and cleaning riverbanks guided me to understand how small efforts can create positive change.This experience reinforced me to understand the importance of ethical choices in preserving the nature and motivated me to contribute to this sort of activities to helped preserve nature.
