I have always been inclined towards helping underprivileged children,so I decided to combine it with my passion for dance to create a positive change.Community service was really an eye opener for me and it also helped me apply my knowledge of international mindedness of IB in real-life context.
For instance a significant global issue is poverty and lack of education.(LOI 6) Underprivileged children have no access to resources to indulge into extracurricular activities or take quality education.Thereby,I was able to contribute to this issue by teaching dance to the children who had interest in it.It definitely bought a huge smile on my face knowing that I could help someone in living their dream and there were a lot of emotions not only of empathy but also happiness and peace.
This experience also made me even more strong towards my own core ethical values.(LOI 7).I believe that righteousness comes with accepting people irrespective of their community, class, etc, is a very humane way of living. Therefore, this service experience made me down-to-earth and reestablished my beliefs.
Overall, this experience was very enriching since it made me connect with a different group of people which typically in daily life is overlooked. The community service brought a lot of positive vibes since all the children were very sweet, cooperative and respectful.
