Creative Mela (Creativity)

With a burst of creativity and enthusiasm, our school hosted the Creative Mela, an event dedicated to exposing students to various creative activities. As a facilitator for the CD painting workshop station, I had the opportunity to guide junior students through the process of turning old CDs into vibrant pieces of art. This experience not only allowed me to explore my own creativity but also helped me develop skills in teaching and leadership. My role was to guide the junior students, providing them with techniques and inspiration to create their own designs. From selecting the right brushes to mixing colors, each step was an opportunity for them to express their creativity.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

Facilitating the workshop helped me identify my strengths in leadership and communication. Explaining techniques and encouraging students to explore their creativity required clear communication and patience. However, I also realized that I needed to work on my ability to manage time effectively, ensuring that each student received individual attention without delaying the overall schedule.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

The challenge of managing a group of enthusiastic junior students was a new experience for me. Ensuring that everyone was engaged and learning required quick thinking and adaptability. I developed skills in classroom management and learned how to keep students motivated and focused on their tasks. This experience also taught me how to handle unexpected situations, such as running out of supplies or dealing with students who needed extra help.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

Facilitating the workshop required perseverance and commitment. From the initial planning stages to the actual event, I had to stay dedicated to ensuring the success of the workshop. This involved spending extra hours preparing materials and practicing techniques. Despite the challenges, seeing the joy and satisfaction on the students’ faces made all the effort worthwhile.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

The success of the Creative Mela was a result of collaborative efforts. Working with other facilitators, teachers, and organizers highlighted the importance of teamwork. We shared ideas, supported each other, and ensured that the event ran smoothly. This collaboration not only made the event more enjoyable but also demonstrated how working together can enhance creativity and productivity.

LO7 – Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

Throughout the workshop, I was mindful of creating an inclusive and supportive environment. Encouraging all students, regardless of their skill level, and providing constructive feedback were essential to maintaining a positive atmosphere. Recognizing the importance of ethical behavior, I ensured that every student felt valued and inspired to express their creativity without fear of judgment.

The Creative Mela was a memorable experience that taught me valuable lessons in leadership, creativity, and collaboration. Facilitating the CD painting workshop allowed me to explore my own creative potential while inspiring younger students to embrace their artistic abilities. This event reinforced the idea that creativity is not just about making art, but also about thinking innovatively and making a positive impact on the world. Below are the photos from the event:
