Farewell Blog: A Journey of Logistics, Planning, and Memories

Farewell is one of the most memorable events for seniors who are soon leaving school. It’s a day to celebrate their journey, bid them goodbye, and give them a remarkable send-off. Being a part of this event as a volunteer in the logistics team was an enriching experience, as I worked to ensure that all performances were well-managed, props were taken care of, and the overall planning ran smoothly.

Creativity

In my role, creativity played a significant part in ensuring the event was unique and memorable. From organizing props for performances to planning backstage arrangements, I had to think creatively to solve problems and ensure everything aligned with the theme. I identified my strengths in organizing and coordination and worked on improving my ability to adapt to last-minute changes. For instance, when a prop for one of the performances went missing, I quickly improvised with available materials to ensure the show went on seamlessly.

LO3: Initiate and Plan a CAS Experience

Planning logistics for the farewell required precise coordination and teamwork. To ensure smooth execution, the logistics team held brainstorming sessions to create a clear timeline for each performance. We mapped out a detailed plan for prop placement, entry and exit timings, and stage setups to minimize confusion on the event day. The use of shared schedules and task divisions helped streamline our workflow and keep everyone on the same page. For example, I collaborated with performers to understand their requirements and coordinated with other teams to ensure all materials were available.

LO4: Show Perseverance and Commitment in CAS Experiences

Managing logistics for the farewell was no small feat. The workload was intense, and balancing academics alongside this responsibility was challenging. There were moments when the pressure felt overwhelming, especially as we approached the event day. However, I stayed committed to my role, ensuring all performances and props were ready on time. Although the farewell event was demanding, it was equally rewarding. Seeing the smiles on the seniors’ faces and hearing their gratitude made all the hard work worthwhile. This experience helped me develop a balanced approach to managing academics and extracurricular commitments, showcasing my growth in time management and teamwork.
