French Culture Event Reflection

In May, our school hosted an event to celebrate French culture. All French students enthusiastically came together to organize and present this event. We set up various stalls showcasing French pronunciation, vocabulary, history, and other cultural elements. The assembly hall was transformed into a vibrant Francophone setting, with French music filling the atmosphere. This event provided students from diverse backgrounds with an opportunity to explore and appreciate French culture. Through teamwork, creativity, and passion, we dedicated ourselves to making this event a success.

LO1

When assigning roles for the French activities, I intentionally chose a topic that I found challenging in order to expand my French vocabulary. To effectively present my stall, I had to develop a strong understanding of the topic to confidently explain it to the audience. Additionally, while preparing the event’s decorations, I used my creativity to design visually appealing elements using paper and other materials. This experience allowed me to refine my artistic and language skills.

LO2

One of the main challenges we faced was time constraints, as we had been occupied with preparations for our French oral exams. Due to the limited time available, we had to work efficiently and organize multiple aspects of the event simultaneously, including creating guest lists, coordinating with the photography team, inviting guests, obtaining necessary permissions, and setting up the venue. Through this process, I learned how to manage time effectively, work under pressure, and collaborate with others to ensure the event’s success.

LO3

Since we started planning later than expected, we had to act quickly and strategically. We divided tasks among team members, prioritizing responsibilities such as contacting external teams, setting up logistics, and ensuring all materials were ready. We tackled each step systematically, which allowed us to complete the preparations on time. This experience gave me insight into the extensive effort required to organize an event successfully and highlighted the importance of clear communication and effective time management.

LO5

Initially, there was little enthusiasm for organizing the event. However, over time, we motivated our peers to participate and contribute in different ways. Whether arriving early, working during free periods, or assisting with management and decoration, everyone gradually became involved. Some students found certain aspects, like decoration, challenging, so we collaborated and supported one another according to our strengths. Additionally, when one classmate was unable to attend the event, we divided their responsibilities among us to ensure everything proceeded smoothly. In the end, we effectively combined our efforts to create a well-organized and visually appealing event.

LO6

One of the key themes of our event was the declining prominence of the French language due to globalization. With the rise of English as the dominant global language, many younger generations in Francophone countries are shifting away from speaking French in daily life. Through this event, we aimed to highlight the significance of preserving and appreciating the French language and its cultural richness. By engaging students in learning new vocabulary, historical facts, and pronunciation, we played a small role in promoting linguistic diversity and cultural awareness.

Conclusion

The event was a truly enriching experience. Not only did we learn new French vocabulary, facts, and pronunciation, but we also bonded with one another, strengthening friendships and teamwork. The collaboration and dedication of everyone involved made the event a memorable and successful one.
