Garba Fest (project)

This was an event which everyone waited for. And for me this was my CAS project. This event made me learn the most. It was just a team of 6-7 students who planned the whole 2 day event. This is an event where after school students who want to stay in the school get dressed in their garba outfits and do as much as they want. And in the end we even have a dj which is everyones favourite. Not only this we also have food stalls going on simultaneously and also the main part which is the decor. The main goal of this event was to manage the decor and the number of people does not exceed the limit or else the event will be a flop due to the minimum space. The number of students attending the event is such a big issue due to which we had to schedule the event for 2 days as for some grades of the first day and some for the second day.

Learning outcome 1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth:

I surely identified my own strengths and weaknesses through this event. Somewhere which I already knew but somewhere which I got to know during these days and it made me feel more confident about myself because I got to know more about how and who I actually am. And as to be confident about yourself and build that self importance and confidence you need to know your own strengths and weaknesses before anyone so that you are not scared of what others will think or say as you will always be ready and known to what people can come up with and would not anymore be scared of things in life and can be free and confident.

Learning outcome 2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process:

The most challenging part of the event was convincing the school to buy some new resources for the decor and at the same time to say the kids no for last moments entries in the fest. The reason these two things were the most challenging because the school was not agreeing to any of it at all and secondly for the kids because there were many of them doing this and due to which in the end a bit of ruckus of created as they did not filled the form before and took the entry and last moment entries were a no at all as if we would have allowed a lot many would have come and it would have been a whole mess up due to the limit of space we had. I haven’t done anything similar before due to which it was especially difficult to say no to our seniors, and in the end the event head helped a lot to handle the senior students. Undertaking this challenge was a huge task but I feel proud to have successfully completed it because you need to learn to say no whether it be your senior or your junior and which I learned from the event. The only reason behind undertaking new challenges being important for me is that I get to learn many new things from it and which help me a lot in my real life scenarios.

Learning outcome 3 –Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience:

This was the event which was organised by a small group of people from the start till the end. I am usually an organized person but during the event it was a lot messed up. As we had to handle every part of the event it became a quite difficult for us. As it was the first time we were doing to all by ourselves and at the same time had to follow a lot of rules, deadlines, and limits. I really improved upon my communicating skills as we had to communicate with the school authorities, the students and many others while organizing it and had to communicate with all of them in a different manner. Which helped me learn a lot. It is important to know how to plan and initiate things so that in future it becomes a easier job for you.

Learning outcome 4 – Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences:

This activity got a bit difficult for me because of the main days when we had to start to assemble the decor and set up everything. I was not well but I still was committed and was there trying my best to do as much I could. Rest it was not an issue for me to be committed during any time of the event planning. The only commitment required to complete this activity was to put your full effort into the planning and management, do your best, always be there during the meetings and while the work is being done. In my case being committed towards these things is not a difficult job as it is something I enjoy the most and at the same time it is very important to be committed and show perseverance because until you don’t do that you cannot achieve anything or succeed in anything.

Learning outcome 5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively:

Working with others is usually not a difficult task for me, rather I enjoy it more than working individually because it helps you make more friends and socialise more. During this particular activity it was the easiest for me to work with others because they all were my friends and someone I talked with daily. In this event there was no such person who was difficult to handle as it was a team of only 6-7 people. Even after all of us being friends we had some fights and arguments related to some things but that made me learn something more that how whether it be your friends or strangers you are working with you will have to explain your point of view and will have to learn to convince them while working collaboratively with people upon a task. The importance of teamwork in our event was the most important and we had made pairs and every pair was assigned one duty for the on day management and if even one pair would have made a mistake it would have all messed up but everyone did it perfectly due to which the event was a complete success.

Hence, this was an event which made me learn and experience a lot. Through this event I learned;

  • to extend myself
  •  how convincing people and explaining your pov to them is important
  •  how teamwork is very important
  • saying NO is important
  •  how to talk to official platforms

There was more to it but in all it was an event which was a success, something fun, learningful and truly a memory.
