Garba is one of the biggest and most celebrated dance forms which is often done during Navratri which is a festival to honor goddess Durga. To celebrate this festival, our school organizes a garba fest every year where the students, and the facility perform garba. This year we had the opportunity to run a food stall during the garba fest.
LO1- Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth.
Cooking food has been one of my strengths but managing a stall is something that was new to me. I was able to cook easily but other than that I also had to manage the orders, the resources needed to make the food, and ensure that the quantity of raw materials were enough. This was a new experience for me as I learned management skills which can be very useful for me in the future.
LO2- demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.
One of the major challenges that we faced was to timely complete and serve all of the orders. We had a pile of orders at a time because this fest had small breaks where all of the participants could come to our stalls to enjoy the food. As our stall got so many orders at a time, I had to work very quickly and make the food as soon as possible while ensuring hygiene and quality of the food. Even though this was very challenging, I learned the importance of time management skills which will be very useful for me in the future.
LO5- Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.
Managing a stall is not an easy task especially because we need to manage and attend all of the customers that come to our stall. Doing this task would not be possible without collaboration with my team. We all distributed our tasks where one person was assigned to manage all of the money we receive, one person who takes up the order, and 2 people to make the orders. This helped us manage the crowd efficiently which made our task much more fun and easier.
