As part of my CAS program, I recently had the opportunity to participate in an exciting event called “Global Odyssey,” a business fair that showcased the entrepreneurial spirit and global awareness of our school community. For this event, I decided to take on the challenge of opening a VR games stall, where I could not only share my passion for technology and innovation but also use the profits to support a charitable cause.
Learning Outcome 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
Conceiving and executing the VR games stall for the Global Odyssey event required careful planning and initiative on my part. I began by brainstorming ideas that would captivate the audience while also aligning with my personal interests and the event’s charitable focus. After settling on the VR games concept, I developed a detailed business plan, outlining the necessary resources, logistics, and marketing strategies. Throughout the planning process, I collaborated with my peers to secure the necessary equipment, design an engaging stall layout, and ensure a smooth operational flow. This experience has equipped me with valuable skills in project management, problem-solving, and the ability to turn an idea into a tangible reality, all while adhering to the CAS learning objectives.
Learning Outcome 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
The success of the VR games stall at the Global Odyssey event was a testament to the power of collaborative efforts. I worked closely with a team of passionate peers to bring this project to life. Together, we leveraged our diverse skills and perspectives to make informed decisions, delegate responsibilities, and create a cohesive and engaging experience for our customers. By openly communicating, providing constructive feedback, and supporting one another, we were able to overcome challenges and deliver a polished final product. This collaborative process not only strengthened our interpersonal skills but also highlighted the benefits of teamwork, such as increased creativity, efficient problem-solving, and a shared sense of accomplishment.
Learning Outcome 6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
At the heart of the Global Odyssey event was a commitment to supporting global causes and promoting cultural exchange. By donating the profits from my VR games stall to a reputable charity, I was able to contribute to a larger initiative addressing issues of global significance. This experience encouraged me to research and evaluate various charitable organizations, ultimately selecting one that aligned with my personal values and had a demonstrated track record of making a tangible impact. Beyond the financial contribution, the Global Odyssey event provided a platform for me to engage with the diverse perspectives and experiences of my peers, fostering a greater understanding of the world beyond my immediate community.
The Global Odyssey event has been a transformative experience that has allowed me to combine my passion for entrepreneurship, technology, and philanthropy. Through the process of initiating, planning, and executing the VR games stall, I have developed valuable skills in project management, collaboration, and global engagement. Moreover, the opportunity to contribute to a charitable cause has instilled in me a deeper sense of social responsibility and a commitment to using my abilities to make a positive difference in the world. As I move forward, I am inspired to continue seeking out ways to blend my personal interests with meaningful service and to be an active agent of change within my community and beyond.
