For students studying business management and economics, Global Odyssey is an important event in FS. Through the Global Odyssey event, students had the opportunity to learn about the starting and running of a business. There were several categories for this event, including Games and Entertainment, Fashion, Food, and Photobooth. I decided to participate in the event’s food section. Together with three of my classmates, we opened a stand where we sold cookie ice cream, slushies, and aglio olio.

LO 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS event:
A lot of planning went into this event. My team and I carefully decided upon a budget and allocated our resources, time and budget costing to different elements of the stall. We even initiated to hold group meetings to discuss the flow of our preparation stage for the event. On the day of global Odessey we planned the role of each team member and how each dish was going to be served, perfectly catering to the LO.

LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.
Along with the various deadlines and work piled up, my team and I worked together collaboratively to successfully manage our stall. We considered the specialty and individual skill set of all the team members in order to assign roles that suit them best and efficiently get the work done. This event helped me improve my team work skills a lot and made me realise how benefitable it is.

To recapitulate, being a part of this event really taught me a lot about real life context in terms of business and economics.
