Global Odyssey

For my CAS project, I was given the leadership role of coordinating the fun team stalls of the Global Odyssey event. It was an event showcasing the students’ economics and business management skills through various stalls in three sections, fun, food and fashion.

In the initial planning stages, I had to work with the other team leaders to divide responsibilities and ensure all the necessary logistical details were mapped out according to the learning outcome of initiating and planning a CAS experience (LO3). This taught me the importance of delegation and coordination between different groups.

Once the date approached, I stayed committed to seeing the project through by supervising my team’s planning and providing guidance as needed (LO4). On the day of the event, I made sure to be available to help set up the fun stalls correctly according to the site map. During the fair, I spent time supporting each fun stall activity to troubleshoot any issues as the main contact person.

Working with my fun team taught me the benefits of collaboration – we were able to accomplish more by delegating tasks amongst ourselves and supporting each other (LO5). By taking on the leadership role, I also learned effective communication and problem-solving skills which will help me in future group projects.

I’m glad I was able to gain this experience of planning and overseeing a CAS project from start to finish.
