HDP ps

I chose table tennis for my PS, thinking it was a simple sport that didn’t require much effort to win. However, after my first match with other students, I quickly realized how wrong I was. Table tennis involves a wide range of techniques, skills, playing styles, and even specific hand and leg movements.

LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth:
While playing table tennis, I realized I was pretty good at serving. I could easily score points on the serve when playing with friends, which made me feel confident. From there, I started practicing rallies with my teacher, and even though it was tough at first, with practice, I got better. I quickly noticed that returning powerful shots and learning new techniques were areas I needed to work on, but I was up for the challenge.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills:
One of the toughest challenges for me was figuring out how to handle powerful shots. At first, I had no idea how to return them, but after practicing a lot, I finally started getting the hang of it. Another big challenge was learning all the different types of tosses in table tennis, since there are so many styles. It was confusing at first, but I eventually learned how to do them, and I picked up a bunch of new skills along the way that I didn’t even know were possible. My table tennis experience aligns with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being. Initially, I underestimated the physical and mental demands of the sport. However, through regular practice, I improved my fitness, focus, and resilience, all of which contribute to better overall health. This journey showed me how sports can enhance both physical and mental well-being, supporting the goals of SDG 3.
