HDP PS

Personal Sports (PS) is a time when students get to choose a sport they enjoy and play for about 45 to 55 minutes. The school cares about students’ health and well-being, so they have included three to four sports slots each week.I personally love playing football and enjoy the game a lot. I am a huge football fan and love both playing and watching matches. I have been playing football for the past seven to eight years and always try to improve my skills and playing style. This activity allows me to showcase my gameplay, stay fit and healthy, and take a break from studies.

Learning Outcome 1 – Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth.

My main focus was to improve my football skills, teamwork, and communication. To begin this CAS experience, I actively participated in the game, enjoyed playing, and worked on areas where I needed improvement. Additionally, I took the initiative to teach football to children from a government school, sharing my knowledge and skills with them.I also worked on the feedback I received from my coaches and made necessary improvements. To challenge myself further, I explored different positions by playing as a Midfielder in addition to my usual role as a Defender. Towards the end of Term 2 in Grade 11 and the middle of Term 1 in Grade 12, we had our Inter-house football competition. This event allowed us to showcase our skills and determine the best-performing house. Through strong teamwork and communication, our team won the tournament, making it a memorable achievement.

Learning Outcome 4 – Showing Perseverance and Commitment in CAS Experiences

I chose football as my Personal Sports (PS) activity for my entire Grade 11 year and decided to continue in Grade 12 as well. This required dedication and consistency, as it was a long-term commitment. However, since I love the sport, it was easy to stay motivated and dedicated to the CAS experience.Throughout this period, our training sessions included various activities such as dribbling, passing, headers, trapping, shooting, and endurance exercises. We played both small-sided matches and full 11 vs 11 games on a larger field. Since teams were frequently rotated, I had the opportunity to play with different teammates throughout the three terms of CAS.Overall, these 18 months were a rewarding experience. I thoroughly enjoyed playing football while also balancing my academics. The experience helped me grow as a player, improve my understanding of the game, and strengthen my teamwork and leadership skills.

Learning Outcome 5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

Football is a sport where it is necessary to mountain continues verbal communication and connection with the teammates we are playing with, especially as a goalkeeper my job is to guide the defenders to make sure that there is no player of opposition in the clear making a clean shot or leading to1 vs 1 situation, furthermore in order to avoid the situation where i am the last man i need to maintain continues eye contact not only of the ball but whatever formation the opposition is forming into.
