In addition to developing new skills and considering the ethics of my actions, playing cricket as part of the “HDP PS program” also helped me in other key areas outlined by the CAS criteria:

LO2. Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process: Cricket presented me with various challenges, such as improving my technical skills under pressure during matches and learning how to adapt to different playing conditions. Whether it was facing difficult bowling or adjusting to the team dynamics, each challenge helped me develop not just as a player, but also in managing pressure and making quick decisions.

LO5. Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively: Cricket is inherently a team sport, and I learned that success on the field often depends on the collective effort of the team. Playing as part of the “HDP PS program,” I recognized how important it was to communicate with teammates, work together, and support one another. Whether it was coordinating field placements or encouraging a teammate after a tough play, collaboration was essential to achieving our goals.

LO4. Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences: The program required consistent practice, focus, and a strong commitment to improvement. Whether facing setbacks or learning from mistakes, I learned the importance of perseverance in both cricket and in life. The determination to continue working hard, improving my skills, and supporting my team through every match was a vital lesson in commitment.

LO7. Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions: As in any competitive sport, cricket involved moments where I had to make ethical decisions, such as playing fairly, adhering to the rules, and maintaining sportsmanship in both victory and defeat. Whether on the field or in practice, I understood that how I played reflected my values, and that integrity and respect were essential to upholding the spirit of the game.
