I had participated in the Mother Tongue Event, to spread awareness about how the importance of our mother tongue is being replaced by foreign languages. I had a lot of fun with my peers while planning the script and while running through the whole script.

L1.Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

It was a very enlightening experience for me to recently take part in a drama performance that was focused on our mother tongue. I was able to pinpoint my strong points—like my ability to learn lines fast and deliver them clearly and emotionally. My stage fear, on the other hand, is something I can work on. I’m inspired to improve these areas of my performance because of this experience. All in all, this experience has been crucial in assisting me in realizing my performance strengths and areas in which I still have room to grow.

L2. Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

I had to step outside of my comfort zone to participate in an event about our mother tongue as I had to thoroughly immerse myself in the language and culture. I improved my language abilities and grasp of culture while also gaining a greater appreciation for my mother tongue through practice sessions and performances. Overcoming my fear of performing and taking on a character role enabled me to hone new communication, expressive, and creative abilities.

L5. Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboartively

Through this event, I was able to honour our cultural history and demonstrate my acting abilities. Collaborating with peers and teachers, I discovered how crucial it is to coordinate and communicate well in a group space. I was able to share ideas and work towards a shared vision by collaborating with others, which led to a successful and memorable performance. Through this experience, I was able to hone my creative and expressive skills as well as learn the importance of cooperation and teamwork in reaching common objectives.

L6. Engagement with issues of global significance

I was given the chance to take part in a play that explored areas of global importance and was solidly rooted in our mother tongue. The drama explored how our native tongues gradually disappear and how new languages become more and more prevalent in our daily lives. I have a deeper appreciation for the value of respecting and preserving our linguistic history as a result of this experience. It sparked a meaningful dialogue within our community about the impact of language loss on cultural identity and the importance of multilingualism in today’s interconnected world. Through this experience, I was able to gain a deeper appreciation for the complexity and beauty of our mother tongue.
