PI Day [CS]

The event was held on March 14th to celebrate math. However, it took over a month to prepare. Yet, knowing this I participated on my own accord due to my burning love for math and its complexities. Hence when I signed up for math PI day I quickly got myself the Jeopardy stall which let me portray my love for math through and through.

I prepared a total of 25 questions on 5 different topics that participants would later solve. Each of the questions were described as thrillers that could be solved by the knowledge they had but not without difficulty.  This showed my creativity and my work done for my peers and future generations showed my service.

LO2 – [Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills]

Whilst the event itself was a success and many people enjoyed our stall it wasn’t without challenges. Preparing the questions took a lot of time and effort as not only they had to be difficult, they had to be solvable. This put a heavy strain on the time I had to do other school work which they demanded as well. Sometimes, we had to be pulled from important classes whilst other times we had to come early to school. Due to this I was able to acquire time management and calmness skills which helped me manage my time and efforts but also let me panic less.

LO4 – [Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience]

When preparing for the CAS I was faced with many deadlines from other subjects which made me ponder on whether I should drop the CAS experience altogether. However, I remained steadfast and completed my tasks and showed up to meetings even when I didn’t have the capacity to do so. This way I showed my perseverance and commitment to the CAS experience.

LO5 – [Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively]

I was partnered with my friend Moksh for the Jeopardy stall where he was tasked with preparing questions for MYP. I was tasked with preparing the questions for the DP grade. Tasked with an extremely difficult task I took his help in showcasing that work was being done whilst preparing the questions in the back. This allowed us to breeze through deadlines and prototype meetings as his work was used upfront and mine was prepared behind the scenes.

LO6 – [Engagement with issues of global significance]

Math is what defines us and what has propelled humanity in the modern age safely. It allows us to verify our understanding, observe the unobservable and discover the concepts even before observing them. Hence, this event is what might spark the creativity in some other child who may go ahead with math.
