Over the past month and a half, I had the rewarding experience of founding and leading the Programming and Design Club at my school. With 15 dedicated members, our goal was to create a supportive environment where beginners could explore coding and design, collaborate, and work on exciting projects. In our first session, we started with a fun icebreaker called “Code Charades,” where members acted out coding actions to introduce programming concepts in an engaging way. Through this club, we aimed to build a strong community of learners and creators, regardless of their prior experience.

LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience

Founding the club required thorough planning and initiative. I started by identifying the interest among students, forming a group of 15 members, and creating a structured plan for the club’s activities. From organizing the sessions to preparing engaging learning materials like “Code Charades,” I demonstrated my ability to take initiative and ensure that the club provided meaningful learning opportunities for all members.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

Running the Programming and Design Club over the course of a month and a half required ongoing dedication. I showed perseverance by consistently organizing sessions, ensuring active participation, and guiding members through various coding and design exercises. Despite challenges, such as balancing responsibilities and ensuring everyone stayed motivated, I remained committed to the club’s growth and success.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboartively

Collaboration was central to the club’s mission. Through group activities, project-based learning, and collaborative problem-solving, members worked together to enhance their skills. I not only facilitated teamwork but also encouraged peer-to-peer learning, creating a supportive environment where members helped each other. This approach highlighted the value of teamwork in achieving shared goals and learning more effectively.
