Rural immersion was an external trip initiated by the school where they took everyone to a village in Navsari named Lacchakadi. We were two sections together who stayed there for 5 nights 6 days and it was very wholesome. We all portrayed all the aspects of CAS, creativity, activity and service.  

Learning outcome 6: Engagement with issues of global significance. 

We demonstrtared learning outcome 6 by spending time with thelocals inntheir respective work and helping them throughout our trip. We got to know how the village earlier was not really supported and how the local tribals used to help each other with their work. Knowing this fact, we acted on helping them with packaging the pickles, moving wood supplies, digging and planting mango seeds, painting and decorating the local school. 

Learning outcome 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills. 

As mentioned we did all sot of things that the local tribals there do on daily basis and it was all very new to me. I never planted tress, nor I ever climbed up a waterfall. These things were really new to me and camping for continuos 4-5 days really helped me improve in the particular skill. 

Learning outcome 7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions.

As mentioned in the starting that we were surrounded with alot of tribal people who doesn’t speak the same language, who doesn’t have the same lifestyle and who doesn’t have the same thought process. During these 7 days we were asked to be very open minded and we understand why. We were able to see how different our lives are from theirs and still how happily they all used to live together. It was all a very sensitive and a very different lifestyle and our actions were really considered. Our actions of being more supported and more open minded was really appreciated as the local tribals weren’t unhappy and they were very connected to us. I remember all the little children coming near our bus and waving us goodbye because we nearly played kho-kho, kabadi, volleyball for 3 days with them and there was a special bond created.  

Talking about my personal motive to participate in the trip, I really wanted to go with the school somewhere be it a fun place or a place where we have to work. This was a very nice exposure to all of us with the real world and personally this made me more open minded as a human being. Also, as students we didn’t have a choice because it was a mandatory trip. 

Lastly, I would like to say that this experience was a very good exposure to us as students and beside all the hard core working activities, it was a fun trip with the classes and I personally enjoyed the entire trip with just being a little homesick.
