I recently had the opportunity to visit Igatpuri for a two-day trek and adventure program. Besides trekking, I participated in several other activities, such as ziplining, rock climbing and more. A highlight of the trip was visiting a local government school, where I interacted and played games with the children.
LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience.
Participating in this two-day trek demanded significant perseverance, as I pushed through physical fatigue and mental challenges that tested my endurance. The experience required meticulous planning and preparation not only in terms of packing the right gear but also mentally preparing for the obstacles ahead, such as difficult terrains and unpredictable weather conditions. Supporting my teammates was crucial, whether it was sharing supplies, motivating each other during tough moments, or working together to navigate unfamiliar routes.
LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.
The trek was a great opportunity to practice working as part of a team. Effective communication, planning, and cooperation were vital to ensuring a successful trip. Whether sharing resources, offering encouragement, or overcoming challenges together, we relied on teamwork throughout the experience. These collaborative efforts strengthened the relationships between participants, fostering trust and cooperation that will be valuable in future team-based projects.
LO6 – Engagement with issues of global significance.
During the trek, we contributed to important global causes by cleaning a dam and removing trash, aligning our actions with Sustainable Development Goals such as Clean Water and Sanitation, Good Health and Well-being, and Climate Action. Our efforts helped keep the water clean and free from pollution. Additionally, while volunteering with underprivileged children at a local school, we navigated language barriers and learned to communicate creatively, further developing our empathy and appreciation for sustainable practices. The children’s joy despite limited resources was a reminder of the importance of gratitude and mindfulness of our own impact on the environment.
