Rural Immersion Trip

For Our Rural Immersion Trip we went to Lachakadi,Navsari in the state of Gujarat. The duration of the trip was from 11th December to 16th December,2023. Lachakadi Navsari beckoned with the promise of a refreshing escape from the monotony of daily life. This trip offers a chance to immerse myself in the unique rhythms of rural India, experiencing firsthand the simplicity and beauty of a lifestyle far removed from the classroom. It’s an opportunity to trade textbooks for tradition, exchanging the routine for the real, and stepping into a world that promises a new perspective and a much-needed break from the mundane.

By attending this Trip I intended to target the learning outcomes..

  • Learning Outcome 4: Show perseverance and Commitment in a CAS experience

The trip involved doing various activities such as farming and extraction of sugar from bamboo, and packaging resources for delivery in a local factory. I volunteered for these activies and provided full commitment as exempliefied in the images below. This led to the development of learning outcome 4, as I genuinely enjoyed participating in the various activites and taking my mind away from academics.

  • Learning Outcome 5: Demonstrate the skills of working collaboratively

I also assisted my friends wherever possible such as while playing a match of Kho-Kho with the local school I ensured everyone was having a good time and no one was hurt while maintaining that competitive attitude. This led to the exemplification of learning outcome 5.

  • Learning Outcome 6:Engagement with issues of Global Significance

By Teaching underprivileged students and providing them with resources we directly contributed in the upliftment of their education quality leading to the exemplification of Learning Outcome 6.

In summary, this CAS experience was quite unique and something which I will remember for a long time as it led to me completing 2 learning outcomes and taking a break from mundane academics which provided my brain with a fresh refresh and enabled me to be better prepared for the upcoming challenges as I learned quite a lot from their simple lifestyle in the villages.
