Yearbook 2025

Designing a Netflix-themed yearbook was a rollercoaster of ideas and rejections. I started with countless themes—”Retro Arcade,” “The Great Outdoors,” and more—but none felt right. Inspiration struck while scrolling Netflix; its diverse genres mirrored our school’s experiences perfectly.

I created templates inspired by Netflix’s interface: a “home screen” intro, “Top Picks” for achievements, and “Trending Now” for key moments. I was excited, but my first drafts were rejected for being too cluttered or overly trendy. Frustrated but determined, I simplified and refined the designs.

After countless revisions, the final concept was approved—perfectly capturing our year in a way that felt creative and relatable.

LO3: Initiate and plan a CAS experience

The entire yearbook project required me to take initiative from the start. After brainstorming numerous themes, I pitched the Netflix idea to the team, planned the sections, and outlined how each element could align with our school’s experiences. My proactive approach ensured a clear direction for the project and smooth coordination with my peers.

LO4: Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

The repeated revisions demanded perseverance and dedication. Despite initial setbacks, I remained committed to the project, revisiting rejected drafts and improving them based on feedback. This process taught me the importance of resilience and the value of persistence in achieving high-quality results.

LO5: Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

Collaboration was key to the yearbook’s success. I worked closely with the team, incorporating their feedback to refine the theme and designs. Each member brought unique insights, and our collective efforts ensured the yearbook resonated with the entire school community.

SDG Focus: Quality Education (SDG 4)

Creating the Netflix-themed yearbook aligned with the Sustainable Development Goal of Quality Education by promoting creativity, collaboration, and effective communication within our school community. The project became a platform for us to showcase diverse talents and perspectives, enhancing a sense of belonging and shared achievement.

LO6: Engagement with issues of global significance
The Netflix-themed yearbook project connected to global significance by drawing inspiration from a platform that represents diverse stories and perspectives worldwide. By mirroring Netflix’s inclusive approach, the yearbook highlighted the importance of celebrating individual achievements while uniting them under a shared narrative.

LO7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
While designing the Netflix-themed yearbook, I carefully considered the ethical implications of representation and inclusivity. It was essential to ensure that every section accurately reflected the diverse experiences of all students, avoiding bias or favoritism.

Learner Profile: Reflective

Throughout this process, I consistently reflected on feedback and my own decisions, ensuring that the final product met the needs of the entire student body. This reflective approach allowed me to grow both creatively and collaboratively.
