Our 2-day trek to Igatpuri was a thrilling adventure that tested our physical endurance, mental resilience, and team spirit. From navigating steep trails to experiencing the serene beauty of nature, the trek provided a unique opportunity to step out of our comfort zones while embracing the challenges of the outdoors.
Learning Outcomes Achieved
L4: Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
The trek demanded consistent effort and unwavering commitment, especially during the steep and rocky climbs. On the second day, fatigue started to set in, but I pushed through, reminding myself of the importance of perseverance. Completing the trek gave me a sense of accomplishment, reinforcing the value of determination in overcoming obstacles.
L1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Through this trek, I discovered my strengths in endurance and teamwork. I found that I was able to motivate my peers and maintain a positive attitude during tough segments. However, I realized I need to work on my navigation skills and being more mindful of my energy management—both areas I plan to improve for future treks.
L2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
The trek introduced me to challenges I hadn’t faced before, such as crossing uneven terrain and hiking for extended hours with a backpack. I developed skills in pacing myself, reading trail markers, and conserving energy. Additionally, I learned the importance of proper hydration and preparation, which are essential for outdoor adventures.
L3: Initiate and plan a CAS experience
Before the trek, I took part in organizing the logistics, ensuring that our group had all the necessary supplies and information. I helped coordinate the packing checklist, transportation details, and team assignments. This experience enhanced my organizational skills and taught me the importance of effective planning and communication to ensure a smooth experience.
