One of my other CAS experiences is the cross country run conducted by the school. This is where we had to run different distances, for instance first time we ran 3 km then 5 km and then 7 km. This experience helped me not only to fulfill my cas requirements but also helped me improve my physical abilities such as flexibility, endurance, strength and will power. As the distance increased, it often occurred that I kept losing motivation and ended up walking half of the path, however I did not give up. I still tried to give my 100% in all the runs. The coaches and teachers present there also kept motivating us to do better and finish the marathon. The cross country run was one of the most exciting and fun experiences compared to the rest.
LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
One of the key strengths I identified during the cross-country run was my endurance. I realized that despite the long distance, I was able to maintain a steady pace and finish the race. This strength in stamina allowed me to tackle challenging parts of the course without giving up. Another strength that stood out was my ability to push through mental fatigue. There were moments when the run felt particularly tough, but I was able to stay motivated and keep going, showing that I have the mental strength to overcome difficult situations. While my endurance was good, I noticed that my speed could be improved.
There were times when I could have increased my pace, but I held back, perhaps out of fear of burning out too quickly. In future runs, I will work on improving my pacing and sprinting to become a faster runner overall. I believe there is room for improvement in the consistency of my preparation. There were a few days where I missed training sessions due to other commitments, and I felt this impacted my performance slightly. Moving forward, I aim to develop a more disciplined training routine to better prepare for such events.
This reflection shows that while I have recognized my strengths in endurance and resilience, I also see clear opportunities for growth in speed and training consistency. Through focused efforts, I can continue to improve and perform even better in future cross-country runs.Â
LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
What began as a challenge to jog just one kilometer gradually evolved into the ability to pace myself, cover longer distances, and discover a steady rhythm in the repetition. Each completed run eroded my self-doubt, replacing it with a calm and growing sense of achievement. Being persistent throughout the marathon pushed me to do better each time and not giving up also this experience developed resilience and my physical strength as well.

LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
During the cross-country run, I had to push myself physically and mentally. Running long distances over varied terrain required endurance and stamina. There were moments of fatigue, but I committed to finishing the race, regardless of the challenges. My ability to continue running despite discomfort and the temptation to stop was a clear demonstration of perseverance. I had to pace myself properly and maintain my motivation throughout the race. I committed to training consistently in the weeks leading up to the event. This included following a structured training plan, running regularly, and making sure I improved my speed and endurance. Despite the demands of schoolwork and other activities, I made it a priority to attend my running sessions.
On the day of the race, I followed through with my commitment by participating fully and giving my best effort. The run itself was physically demanding, and at certain points, I had doubts about my ability to continue. However, through this experience, I developed resilience and a stronger mindset. I also improved my physical fitness and learned the importance of pushing through mental and physical barriers. Overall, my cross-country experience reflects my dedication to completing a challenging activity, consistently working towards my goals, and improving my physical and mental strength.Â
In conclusion, my cross-country run experience provided valuable insights into both my strengths and areas for growth. LO1 helped me recognize my endurance and mental resilience as key assets, while also identifying the need to improve my speed and training consistency. Meanwhile, LO4 highlighted my commitment to the training process and my perseverance in overcoming challenges during the event. These reflections have reinforced the importance of continuous self-improvement and have motivated me to set new goals in my running journey, focusing on both physical and mental development for future success.
