Apart from the trek there were also different adventurous activities that I had done in this programme. This included doing zipline and also climbing and balancing on rope and etc. I had also visited a government school in Igatpuri in which I had interacted with different children over there and we together played games also together.

LO6 – Engagement with issues of global significance.

Through our service activities, we engaged in dam cleaning to pick up trash, contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals of Good Health and Well-being, Clean Water and Sanitation, and Climate Action. By clearing debris around the dam, we aimed to ensure the water remained clean and safe, thus promoting good health and well-being. Additionally, this effort prevented pollution of the land and water, aligning with climate action objectives.

During our time volunteering with underprivileged children at a government school, we encountered communication challenges as they spoke only Marathi. This experience enhanced our communication skills as we found creative ways to interact with them effectively. Furthermore, it fostered a sense of care and empathy towards the children and the environment, prompting us to reflect on our privileges and appreciate what we have. Witnessing the children’s happiness with minimal resources also encouraged reflective thinking about our impact on the environment and the importance of sustainable actions.

LO7 – Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions.

During our community service task, we were divided into groups and given the responsibility to teach underprivileged children something new. Each volunteer was assigned a role based on their strengths, such as communication skills.

Through this experience, I developed the attribute of caring as we ensured the safety of ourselves and others on the slippery trek path. We assisted those who struggled with the trek by guiding them along an easier route.

The journey to Igatpuri was not just a physical challenge but also a journey of self-discovery and community engagement. I identified areas for improvement in my physical fitness, recognized my strengths in teamwork and communication, and felt the fulfillment of giving back to the community. This experience greatly enhanced my CAS journey and contributed significantly to my personal development.
