Organizing an in-school farewell for our seniors was exciting and at times challenging. Being part of the farewell committee brought me to a desire where the event should be enjoyable and meaningful, for it should create an unforgettable memory for the graduating class. We had to think out a plan that would be organized, coordinated, and overcome the obstacles that ensued in the process. This only made me grow as a planner who could be responsive to challenges with creativity and resilience.

LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

Just getting the event organized was in itself difficult due to the lack of time and resources. Balancing the farewell event organization with my academic life was perhaps one of the biggest challenges. A number of simultaneous preparations were required: coordination with the decor team and adjusting the games and activity into the flow. We also experienced last-minute changes in the program schedule and needed to be flexible; on the day of farewell we faced a electric cut due to which we had to stop the game which was being played and with our thinking skills we came up with a game on spot to make sure the flow goes on and batch does not free bored. The trials at that time pushed me to improve my ability in time management skills and adaptability towards unexpected changes.

LO 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

Organizing a farewell as the activity coordinater/memeber was, therefore an excellent opportunity for me to lead an idea from initiation to all the way to its final execution . Thus, I organized brainstorming sessions with my peers at the outset, mapped out a timeline for the tasks, and allocated duties to ensure everything was covered-from music and needed resources on the finalday for the games and activity such as props. Through planning the games and activity, I learned that clear goals and plans are necessary for completion. I learned how to think ahead and sometimes even know what could go wrong; hence, preparing back up plans in advance would be accordingly implemented.

Except for working as a games and activity memeber I also helped my decor peers for prepering the decor because we had some last minute ideas which would make the event even more meaningful. To conclude, planning the farewell was a great learning experience which helped me grow both as a problem-solver and as a leader. It put my creativity to challenge and made me available for adapting to changing situations along with your peers. The satisfaction of watching the seniors in positive reactions was all worth the efforts, and it was a great way to celebrate their time at school.
