One of the most enriching experiences of my CAS journey was working with underprivileged children, where I taught them how to play football and engaged them in various games. This activity was not only fun and engaging but also deeply rewarding as it allowed me to contribute positively to the community while developing essential skills.

LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Teaching football required consistency and dedication. Over multiple sessions on the weekends, I worked with the children to help them grasp the fundamentals of the game. Some were initially hesitant or unfamiliar with the rules, but their enthusiasm and energy made each session lively. There were challenges including keeping the kids disciplined, keeping them engaged in the sport while also making sure that they had fun. Witnessing their improvement and teamwork was worth every effort.

LO 6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

catering to SDG 4 (quality education) and 10 (reduced inequalities), I realized how important it is for every child to receive a proper education, even in terms of sports while there be no inequalities to the education of the child. Access to recreational activities and sports is often limited for underprivileged communities. Through this initiative, I aimed to bridge that gap, recognizing the importance of sports in fostering teamwork, discipline, and physical health. By sharing the joy of football, I contributed in a small way to promoting inclusivity and equal opportunities, addressing the broader issue of social inequality.

LO 7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

This activity made me reflect on the ethics of volunteering. It wasn’t just about teaching football but ensuring that my approach respected the children’s dignity and fostered a positive environment. I learned to be patient, listen actively, and adapt to their needs, ensuring that the sessions were enjoyable and uplifting for all.

Overall, this experience helped me grow as a person while making a meaningful impact. It reinforced my belief in the power of sports to connect, inspire, and empower individuals all around.
