For me, taking part in the rural immersion trip was a very enlightening and enriching experience. Understanding of community involvement, and personal development via immersion in a rural environment were the goals of the trip.

LO2. Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills

I faced a lot of first-time difficulties on my trip, including farming, milking cows, and field cleanup. I was assisted in learning new skills because the people who worked there demonstrated them. In order to promote the growth of the newly planted plants in the field, I was instructed to apply natural fertiliser. It took me a while to figure out how to milk cows since it was really challenging. I was instructed to clear away any unnecessary self-grown vegetation from the fields so that the plants could absorb all of the nutrients.

L5. Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

Collaborating with others can increase productivity and save time. In order to accelerate and shorten the time required for the field cleanup, we were divided into teams and given specific areas to clear. In addition, we were divided into three groups for science, games, and the arts when we attended the local school, which allowed the kids to learn more in less time. I also made new friends while collaborating with the other students.

L6. Engagement with issues of global significance

One major global issue is the lack of high-quality education and global awareness that children in rural areas don’t get enough of, so I was able to engage with these issues as well by interacting with children in government schools and having one-on-one conversations with them.

L7. Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

I had to think carefully about several ethical issues that arose during my rural immersion. I became aware of how my decisions and deeds affected the general well-being of those around me as I got involved in my surroundings and environment. In this atmosphere, seemingly insignificant decisions—like how to use resources or participate in local traditions on new significance. As a result of growing awareness of the effects of my presence and actions, I realised how crucial it is to take ethics into account while making decisions. This experience has profoundly shaped my understanding of responsibility and the need to approach choices thoughtfully.
