This was the first time i was going to play ISSO for Basketball. Though I had played such tournaments previosuly too, but for individuall sports, Athletics, however this tournament allowed me to reflect on myself and see where I stood as a player.
LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growthÂ
This tournament provided me with valuable insights into both my individual strengths and weaknesses as a player, as well as those of my team. It enabled me to pinpoint areas for improvement, such as communication, ball control, and post guard moves. By dedicating myself to trying to develop these skills, I tried my best to enhance my overall performance, contributing to our team’s success in winning three of our group stage matches and able to reach till quaters.
LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience.
ISSO was a great platform to expose me to how basketball tournaments were. It taught me few rules on during the match and few outside the court. I learnt from my mistakes and always tried not repeating them in my other matches. For my mistakes I was subsituted as well but that didnt cause me to lose hope. I continued showing persistence and play my best when given a chance. Additionally, this tournament required a great deal of commitment and perseverance from me and the team. We had to attend multiple training camps after school, work on our fitness levels, and stay motivated despite continuous setbacks. This helped us build our resilience and persistence toward achieving our goals.
LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.
This tournament underscored the essence of teamwork in Baskteball, emphasizing the necessity of collaboration to reach shared objectives. Effective communication, trust in our teammates, and collective effort were pivotal in pursuing victory. These efforts not only fostered strong team but also facilitated mutual learning and appreciation for the advantages of teamwork. Engaging in enjoyable moments and strategic discussions with my teammates, I actively embodied the qualities of the IB learner profile communicator and demonstrated an open-minded approach by attentively considering the tactical insights from our coach and my team.
