For my CAS experience I participated in the garba fest where I had set up a stall my my buddy and in that stall we sold various dishes like nachos and mojitos. In this event a garba celebration was organised by the school and garba is a form of folk dance in the Gujarati culture which is often performed during the Navratri which translated to nine nights where maa durga is worshiped. In this event I expressed a lot of hard work to deal with the students coming at my stall to purchase and me and my buddy also divided roles to handle the operations smoothly.

LO1- Identify your own strengths and develop areas for personal growth.

Although I’ve always been good at cooking, running a stall was something I had never done before. In addition to managing the orders, the supplies needed to prepare the food, and making sure there was a enough supply of raw materials, I could cook with ease. I gained management abilities from this new experience that will come in extremely handy down the road.

LO2- demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process.

Completing and serving every order on time was one of our biggest problems. This celebration had little gaps where everyone could come to our stalls and eat the food, so we had a queue of orders at a time. I had to work quickly to prepare the food while maintaining hygiene and quality standards because our stall received a lot of orders at once. Even though this was a really difficult task, I gained valuable knowledge on time management that I will utilise going forward.

LO5- Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.

It’s not a simple chore to maintain a stall, especially when we have to handle and tend to every consumer that visits us. It would not be able to complete this assignment without my friend’s assistance. We divided up the work amongst us; one person was in charge of handling all of the money we received, another took orders, and whoever was available at the time completed the remaining tasks. This made our work much easier and more enjoyable by enabling us to effectively manage the throng.
