March 14th – a day etched in every math and physics enthusiast’s calendar. It’s Pi Day, but at our school, it’s much more! Led by a passionate group of students, Pi/Math Day transforms into a vibrant celebration of all things Einstein’s birthday and, of course, everyone’s favorite irrational number – Pi (3.14…). This year, I was thrilled to be part of the dedicated decor team, and let me tell you, it was an experience filled with magic (and a whole lot of math)!
From February 22nd, our team embarked on a mission to bring the theme of “Magic and Maths” to life. Early mornings were spent brainstorming ideas, calculating measurements, and transforming simple materials into fantastical displays. We hung shimmering mobiles shaped like mathematical symbols, crafted giant playing cards with mind-bending illusions, and even built a mesmerizing Möbius strip. Collaborating with such a talented and enthusiastic group fostered a real sense of camaraderie. We learned from each other’s strengths, bounce ideas off one another, and tackled challenges together. Witnessing a simple sketch transform into a captivating decoration solidified the power of teamwork.
The weeks leading up to the event were filled with a unique energy. Early-ins at school became a time for laughter, food breaks, and of course, frantic construction of various magical-mathematical wonders. Perseverance became our mantra as we tackled unforeseen hiccups – from jumbled up decorations and last-minute design tweaks. We learned to adapt, problem-solve, and never give up on making the event truly special.
Finally, the big day arrived! Stepping into the transformed assembly area was a moment of immense satisfaction. The decorations brought our months of hard work to life, creating an atmosphere that buzzed with excitement. Students were enthralled by the interactive displays, eagerly participating in math-themed quizzes. Seeing the joy on their faces was undoubtedly the biggest reward.
Pi/Math Day wasn’t just about celebrating numbers and the brilliance of Einstein; it was a testament to the power of CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) experiences. It taught me the value of perseverance and commitment, pushing me to see projects through to completion. More importantly, it highlighted the incredible benefits of collaborative work. Together, with a shared vision and a dash of teamwork magic, we created an unforgettable experience – a perfect blend of learning and fun!
LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
the decor team was hard at work from 22nd of feb, where we had early ins almost everyday in order to ensure that non of our normal slots were taken and still we were able to complete the decorations, the almost half month worths of work was at stake, and even at last moment due to have used ropes in part of decorations we mistakenly stored in wrong manner making it all jumbled up, and yet no one gave up and we unjumbled everything and put up decorations on time.

the decor team was amazing group of people who were all unique and good at some or other thing, and after being with each other for such long time and having had fun for so long, helped us understand each other well work in collaboration well, such that even in the worst of situations with each other’s help we were able to solve it.
