Global Odyssey is an event organized by our grade 11 business management teachers to allow us to demonstrate our understanding of the following subjects. The entire grade 11 team contributed to the success of the Global Odyssey event. In this event, I was a member of the decoration crew, which was a difficult work for me because it required a great deal of perseverance and ingenuity. As of now, I was not a creative person, but this event allowed me to improve those talents and participate in activities that turned out to be quite enjoyable to me. This event left lots of learning to me which was one of the main reason behind doing this event.

LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills.

Coordinating tasks, managing deadlines, and making sure the decoration plan is executed flawlessly are all part of the job of the decoration team and I as a part of decoration team learned- task prioritization, time management, and resource allocation are just a few of the skills that are improved by me in this global odyssey event. To create and execute unique, eye-catching designs that complement the event’s theme and goals, decorating for a different cherry blossom theme, the event demands imagination and resourcefulness. It is encouraged for team members and myself to think creatively, try out novel concepts, and come up with original answers to design problems which indeed is a useful component which I learned during this event.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

Collaborating with others creates a strong sense of teamwork and trust. Me and team members worked together, they tap into each other’s strengths and specialties to achieve the assigned objectives. Cooperation, mutual support, and collective responsibility become essential in efficiently completing tasks in a team. Collaboration also enhances creativity and drives innovation by encouraging the exchange of ideas and different perspectives. Teammates encourages one another, contributing unique perspectives and insights to the decoration process. During meetings and on day work we al gathered together and worked together, which made a sense of trust and teamwork between us, which helped us to present our view in front of teachers and the core committee without any hesitation which let the event to be a good and memorable event for all of us.

[LO1] – Serving the Global Odyssey decoration team was one of the most beautiful experiences that can ever happen. In this event, I developed commercial appreciation on how to design attractive interfaces that would appeal to people’s sense of sight. My team player personality and the fact that I complement the team or work well with the rest of the team was also underlined. Nevertheless, I understood key issues that might too be improved, for example, establishing better ways to better time manage in order to meet strict deadlines. Further, I discovered the lack of leadership skills, which I should establish to drive the team to a greater degree of efficiency. It was highly useful in training my strengths and weak points, effectively helping me to figure out where to improve and how to perfect other areas.

LO3 – By being part of the decoration and planning team for Global Odyssey, I took the initiative to conceptualize and execute the event’s visual and organizational aspects. I collaborated with team members to design an appealing layout that captured the essence of a business fair, ensuring the decorations complemented the theme of global entrepreneurship. I planned the timeline for setting up, sourced materials efficiently, and worked with others to manage the logistics, such as stall placements and aesthetic details. This experience helped me enhance my problem-solving and organizational skills while ensuring that the event atmosphere reflected a professional and engaging environment.

Learner profile – Thinkers

Being a part of decoration team I and my teammates needed a creative mind to initiate this event and make the decoration of the event look pretty good. Each member of the decoration team may have a different style, different experiences and different way of thinking hence we all catered that thinking and style to make upon the decoration of the event. While our meetings we all did sincere brainstorming upon the decoration and arrangements of the event which indeed made myself think upon a lot of items, which helped me develop my thinking skills also.

To conclude, participating in a decoration team for the global odyssey event provided me with invaluable opportunities to develop and demonstrate essential collaborative skills and creativity skills while preparing out for the event.
