We students planned Aanand Utsav as a way to show their gratitude to the didis and bhaiyas who work at our school and look after us every day. For students to enjoy a day doing something they don’t typically do at school, we organised games and dance performances. I worked on the decor and games team.

LO 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

Together, we made this day very unique and unforgettable for our support staff. From creating the decorations and setting them up in the space to planning games for them to do so they could have a good time with us students, I put everything we had into this event. Finally, as they enjoy dancing, we invited them to join us for garba. Despite not being given that specific assignment, it was evident how much we all supported one another. Because we had more assisting hands, things went more quickly and smoothly.

Learning Outcome 6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance

Anand Utsav emphasised how critical it is to value and acknowledge the achievements of people who frequently operate in the background. This incident highlighted the importance of each person’s involvement in fostering a supportive community in a society where praise is usually given for evident achievements. It tackled the more general problem of treating every employee with dignity and gratitude, regardless of their role. Our goal was to instill a culture of thankfulness in our school, which would promote a feeling of unity and belonging.
