As part of my CAS project, my classmates and I created an accounts club to teach volunteers on accounting, business, and the stock market. We organized an accounts club in our school and held it on day 1and 3. It is quite evident at every school that we are taught about unreal situations that are not of much use in most people’s lives, therefore we decided to teach some real-world skills that are highly valuable in any person’s work or day-to-day life, for their business, or to earn money. Aside from teaching the volunteers, I taught myself some essential skills and learned about a variety of useful things.

LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience.

Creating and initiating the Accounts Club was my CAS project. Unlike other experiences, we had to set up and run the club independently, requiring significant effort and dedication. We held multiple discussions with mentors to plan the club’s success and learned about the necessary topics. Additionally, we made sure to acquire knowledge in advance to confidently teach and provide interesting information during sessions. Overall, establishing the Accounts Club involved careful planning, teamwork, and a commitment to effective knowledge-sharing, making it a rewarding experience for everyone involved.

LO5- Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

Executing Accounts Club for my CAS project required us to work collaboratively. Unlike other projects, we had to independently set up and run the club, demanding equal efforts and dedication. We engaged in team discussions and brainstorming sessions to decide on the club’s motive, ensuring diverse perspectives were considered. Assigning specific roles and responsibilities allowed each team member to contribute meaningfully, fostering a sense of ownership. Regular communication, both within the team and with mentors, was crucial for staying informed and seeking guidance. We approached challenges as a team, encouraging collaborative problem-solving and finding creative solutions.

Celebrating milestones together reinforced the benefits of collaboration, creating a positive and motivating atmosphere. Reflection sessions helped us evaluate our collaborative processes, allowing for continuous improvement and growth in our teamwork skills. Through these strategies, we not only demonstrated collaborative skills but also experienced the numerous benefits of working together towards our common goal in the CAS project.

Learner profile attributes:-

Communicator – Communication is required for successful planning and execution of this CAS project. The ability to assign tasks for different topics to different participants, and ensure that everyone understands their responsibilities helped the club to run smoothly. Aside from our own committee communication, normal communication skills were also essential when providing information about accounting, stock market and businesses because without it, we would not be able to provide effective and relevant information to the volunteers.

Knowledgeable- The learner profile attribute of being knowledgeable was demonstrated in the CAS project by actively acquiring detailed knowledge about the topics to be covered. This included speaking with mentors to gain insights into successful planning. We needed to be being well-informed in order to deliver accurate and relevant information during club sessions, which was consistent with the profile’s emphasis on depth and accuracy of understanding. In conclusion, being knowledgeable about our topics was a necessity to make the Accounts Club a success.

Overall Accounts club was a very informative and joyful experience for me where I gained a lot of new useful knowledge about my future career.
