The unsung heroes of our operations are the school employees. They put in countless hours of effort before the first bell sounds and well after school is out, all while maintaining the happiest dispositions and the biggest smiles. It might be the grade wing didis, the culinary crew, or the transport personnel. They now play essential roles in my life. Anand Utsav was a special occasion where we honored their dedication and showed our appreciation with a number of fun activities all day long. I was in charge of creating and executing a dance during the occasion.

Learning outcome 1 : Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

Since dancing is one of my passions and strong points, I was a member of the dance squad for the Anand Utsav and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Despite my passion of dancing, I have trouble remembering it, which has been one of my main areas of improvement. Because we had early in and pull-out slots, we had ample time to commit the dances to memory, which even helped me overcome my dance memorization issue.

Learning outcome 3 : Demonstrate how to initiate and plan CAS experience.

A group of friends’ mutual desire to perform at the Anad Utsav served as the initial impetus for the concept. We collaborated to generate concepts that aligned with the event’s goals. After that, we chose a dance. To improve our performances and get past any obstacles, we practiced a lot. As part of our planning method, we synchronized several sets, each of which was in charge of their own performances. A rigorous timeframe and careful timing were necessary for this asynchronous method. Therefore, in order to guarantee timely execution, we carefully planned and practiced. This experience demonstrated not just our inventiveness and collaboration, but also our dedication to providing an unforgettable and influential performance at the event.

Learning outcome 4 : Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience

We started arriving at school early so that we could practice the dance without missing any of our slots because we were all dedicated to making this Anand Utsav a success. Term 2 of our grade 11 program is nearing to a conclusion, therefore we were unable to have many pull-out sessions to prepare the dance. We put in more effort, dedicated more time, and tried our hardest to make this occasion one to remember.

Learning outcome 5 : Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

The dances were performed in groups, and when we first looked at the script, we saw that there were many different things we could do. Every member wanted to use the dance to share the special moments they had spent with the staff. The amount of dancing concepts that were offered throughout the first 30 minutes of the meeting was so overwhelming. To ensure that we selected the phases that were most appropriate and connected with the audience, we had to cooperate. Line by line, we improved our set by practicing and experimenting with all the concepts.

I thought that we don’t give our support workers enough credit after this incident. Without the support we have received throughout the years, school would not be feasible. After realizing this, I made the decision to treat our support personnel with the same regard as ourselves and to show them appreciation more frequently.
