As part of the CAS Service strand, I was privileged to participate in Anand Utsav, a day dedicated to expressing gratitude to the didis and bhaiyas of our school. These incredible individuals work tirelessly to keep our school clean, prepare delicious meals, and ensure a safe and comfortable environment for us. The event aimed to celebrate their invaluable contributions and give back to them through joy-filled activities and heartfelt performances.
LO 5: Demonstrate Skills and Appreciate the Values of Collaborative Work Anand Utsav has been a true epitome of teamwork. It demands much collaboration among students as well as teachers for designing and planning such a vast event. We discussed several ideas, assigned tasks to each other, and finalized all the logistics related to the activities. In that festival, I worked in perfect coordination with my fellow participants to make all the programmes from garba session till tug-of-war competition without any hitch. This event taught me the essence of collective effort and how proper communication contributes to realizing the same objectives. While making the event a successful event, this collaboration built cohesion within our team as well.
LO 6: Engage with Problems of Global Relevance
A global issue brought to notice and appreciated in this event—the contributions of essential workers often unnoticed and unvalued. Through Anand Utsav, we realized that dignity and respect for labor are very important. It was a reminder that workers like our school’s didis and bhaiyas play a crucial role in the well-being of society. The event gave us an opportunity to engage with this issue at a local level, fostering a sense of responsibility to advocate for and appreciate such individuals in every community.
LO 7: Identify and Reflect Ethics in Decisions and Operations
The essence of the celebration, Anand Utsav, was actually about making sure that in reality, our actions must represent respect and gratitude for the didis and the bhaiyas. By conceptualizing the activities planned for the day, there must be an area free of any additional work for their leisure and enjoyment. Whether it was organizing games or participating in garba, we made sure that the actions we took exhibited true care and inclusivity. Reflecting on it now, I realized the significance of approaching service in terms of empathy and proper consideration of ethics, making the target feel valued and loved.
