Grade 12 marks the end of the most special and memorable journey of our lives which all ends on the farewell. This was an event where we had organized a farewell for the graduating Batch of 2024. This special farewell deserved an unforgettable ending, so we set out to make the 2024 farewell the best one FS has ever seen. I was part of the dance team, and we were all dedicated to putting on an incredible performance to impress our seniors and make this farewell the most memorable day of their lives.
LO1. Identify Own Strengths and Develop Areas for Growth
Through this project, I was able to identify my own strength of problem-solving. There were many people interested in the project so going through the audition process and learning the choreography taught me patient as well. I also realized that I have the ability to stay calm and work under pressure and find solutions to problems in stressful situations. Being a part of the dance team also required constant coordination with others, whether it was during the practice or while making decisions. Although, I realized that we had a lot of friction with the team and teachers, and working through those problems slowed down the decision-making processes and made some negotiations less smooth. Recognizing this area of criticism also helped me work through the event.
LO4. Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
I took part in the dance team, and initially there were several hurdles we had to overcome before becoming a part of the team. We had to initially go through tryouts, where we learned the dance, recorded it, and sent it to our coordinators in the hopes of being chosen. After the selection, we began practicing our routines everyday, as much as we could. I could have quit in the initial stages only since it was quite chaotic and the chances were slim to be selected, but we all were determined to be a part of this journey. I had participated in several of the dances we had performed. We were all divided in different groups so the entire performance has a structure and flow. As a result, our commitment as a team helped us perform a successful performance and create a great memory for our seniors.
LO5. Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
Collaboration allowed us to pool our ideas and talents, leading to more creative choreography and a well-rounded performance. Each member brought unique skills and perspectives, enriching the overall production. Cooperation and team work were essential in order to compile a successful event. Collaboration in work was an advantage but a disadvantage at the same time since matching everyone’s ideas and incorporating or listening to everyone was difficult. There were several conflicts that occurred although as a team, we were able to overcome them. Dance performances require precise timing and coordination. By working together, we could practice synchronously, ensuring that our movements were in harmony.
