Pi Day is celebrated on 14th march every year because the value of pi goes as 3.14… which the date represents excellently and the date is also the birthday of the mathematical genius Albert Einstein. This Pi Day we organized and held stuff related to physics and math’s in order to celebrate the birthday of Einstein. The stalls consisted from selling pies to mathematical tricks to astonishing physics phenomenon’s. As a math enthusiast, I loved the whole event and was the in charge of a stall, which consisted of a few math tricks and a mini game of remembering as many pi digits as they can.
LO1:Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
I have always been inclined towards math, and Pi Day was an event I eagerly anticipated. Math, in general, has been one of my strengths, coupled with an innate ability to remember numbers easily. This skill enabled me to memorize digits of pi up to 101.Given my enthusiasm for math, generating ideas for stalls was effortless. However, when it came to executing the ideas, particularly in terms of decorating stalls and presenting tricks using posters, I found myself lacking. Nevertheless, this became a valuable learning opportunity for me throughout the journey. As I delved into the process, I actively sought out ways to enhance my skills in stall presentation and visual representation of mathematical concepts. Through trial and error, I experimented with various techniques for decorating stalls and designing informative posters. This journey not only expanded my understanding of effective visual communication but also honed my creativity in showcasing mathematical ideas in engaging ways. By immersing myself in the process and embracing the challenges, I gradually developed proficiency in stall decoration and poster design. Each hurdle I encountered served as a stepping stone for growth, ultimately empowering me with newfound expertise in translating mathematical concepts into visually captivating displays. Through this journey, I not only improved my skills but also gained a deeper appreciation for the importance of effective presentation in conveying complex ideas.
LO2:Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
As the host of a stall in the event, I faced a lot of challenges that tested my creativity and presentation skills. Each hurdle became an opportunity for growth, pushing me to explore new ways of engaging participants and showcasing mathematical concepts. Brainstorming ideas for our stall was an adventure in itself, leading to fascinating discoveries about mathematics. I was able to discover about the history of mathematical achievements, unearthed intriguing facts, and uncovered the beauty hidden within complex equations. During the event, the true test of our abilities came with the task of presenting our ideas in a captivating manner and make it interesting for the audience as math’s is considered to be a boring subject generally and it was our job to prove people that math can actually be quite interesting sometimes.
LO4:Show Perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
Pi Day fell on March 14th, a month notorious for its abundance of deadlines and assignment due dates. Amidst this flurry of academic obligations, I found myself struggling to allocate sufficient time for planning the event. Despite the overwhelming workload, I remained determined to make the stall engaging and enjoyable for participants. To accomplish this, I made the most of every available moment, arriving at school early and utilizing free slots between classes to work on the stall. These pockets of time, though brief, allowed me to infuse creativity and innovation into the stall design, ensuring it would stand out on the event day.
LO5:Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
Due to time constraints, many stalls were left with incomplete or pending work. However, myself and fellow students stepped in to offer assistance, collaborating to efficiently and effectively complete the tasks without compromising on quality. Additionally, we worked together to create t-shirt designs featuring physics and math puns, enhancing our presentation on the event day and adding to the overall aesthetic appeal.
Overall this experience was interesting as I am big mathematic enthusiast and was a fun and enjoyable event for me.
