This year, I have initiated a book club named “Book Talks” for enthusiastic readers and fantasy fanatics. 2 sessions are held every week to share our interest and insights of recent and classic plot and lines. These sessions push us to explore unknown worlds and to exercise our imaginations to analyze plots and storylines. Reading is one of my most prominent hobbies. I love reading, and learning about our world, while also creating and imagining fantasy worlds. The purpose of this experience is to share this with others and to learn about their preferences and interests.
LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience
Along with two other core committee members, we plan interesting sessions for the club where we plan different activities and plots to discuss. As core committee members we have to ensure that the sessions are fun, interesting, and helpful. This experience was completely planned and initiated by me and the other two members. We are the ones who have to plan all sessions of the clubs and manage the balance between fun and helpful.
LO4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
To date, we have held around 40 sessions of the club. The club was initiated in early September which indicates that to date, the club has been conducted for 5 months (excluding holidays). This is a long time which showcases the perseverance and commitment to the book club.
The skills that I developed/showcased through this experience –Â
- Inquirers – I am required to question the author, the context, and the story to make engaging conversations, discussions, and debates.
- Thinkers – We have to use our thinking skills to imagine and create different scenarios and plots in our heads and jog up the creativity to portray our imaginary worlds in front of others. I also have to think about the sessions and their agendas to make them more engaging and riveting for the members.
- Communicators – I have to communicate and coordinate with the other two CC members and the club members to have fascinating discussions and debates
