CAS-Cross Country Run

I recently took part in a few cross-country marathons as part of my CAS experience , which put me to the test on both a mental and physical level. I was able to show my tenacity, and pinpoint places for growth, and consider my strengths through this experience. The race taught me a significant lesson about the need of preparation and determination in achieving personal goals, in addition to being a test of my endurance. This challenge taught me the value of having specific goals and the gratification that comes from pushing myself to the edge. All in all, this experience has motivated me to keep working toward my fitness objectives with fresh concentration and determination.

LO1: Identify Own Strengths and Develop Areas for Growth

I knew that, even though I was reasonably fit, I hadn’t consistently trained for long-distance running. Rather than walking at a steady pace over longer distances, my strength was in quick bursts of speed. I think it’s a personal strength of mine that I was able to maintain the mental focus necessary to finish the race despite weariness. But I also saw that there was room for improvement, particularly in terms of stamina and pace. This realization has inspired me to work on strengthening my physical fitness with consistent jogging and increased knowledge of pace techniques.

LO2: Demonstrate That Challenges Have Been Undertaken, Developing New Skills

I had never raced such a large distance in a planned event before, so the cross-country race presented a fresh and intimidating challenge to me. I learned new abilities during the race, such keeping a steady pace and managing my breathing to avoid becoming tired. During the race, I also realized how important it is to stay hydrated. I’ve learned from this experience the importance of making small, steady progress and how pushing oneself beyond of my comfort zone may result in personal development.

LO4: Show Perseverance and Commitment in CAS Experience

Cross-country running proved difficult to finish. I felt like I should have stopped or slowed down at certain points, especially as the race came to a close. My goal was still to finish the race, though. My stubbornness was evident in the mental toughness needed to endure the pain and maintain my concentration on the finish line. Additionally, even though it was difficult to continue consistently, I stayed dedicated to my training in the weeks before the event.

Conclusion

I’ve learnt a lot from this cross-country race, including how to recognise my abilities, take on new challenges, and stay committed to my objectives. It reaffirmed the value of tenacity and dedication in many facets of life, not just in physical endeavours. I’ve learnt a lot about my talents and how to develop both intellectually and physically as a result of this experience.
