Like every year, our school arranged “community service” programme where we educate the underprivileged children new skill sets and different art forms. The primary motive behind this programme is to focus on the fruitful learning and development of the kids. There were total of 6 sessions over the weekend. I volunteered to teach them dance since I am passionate for that art form. Through this CAS experience I was able to portray the LO1, LO3, LO5 and LO7 in various ways and fields of the project.

L1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
Over the sessions, I was able to identify my strength of teaching to the kids, but did not made the experience any easy. This is because there were young kids who don’t feel comfortable in communication with us.During the session I made sure to communicate well with the students to make them feel comfortable by providing them a friendly environment.

L3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience.
It was really significant for us to plan the session before the beginning of the session, where we use to plan dance steps of the song and also rehearsed it multiple times in order to avoid confusion and mistakes in our teaching, which could potentially create chaos. This would benefit us by making the most of the time and also increase our efficiency.

L5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.
One of the essential aspects in order to make the event successful is to work collaboratively. While we use to plan the sessions, sometimes there would be situations when there would be many different opinion so then we split into different groups and choreograph certain parts of the song. This way everyone got equal chance and their opinion were considered.

L7- Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and action
Through this CAS experience I’ve come to realise that having a wealthy upbringing has given me access to a wide range of opportunities, including the best education and a safe atmosphere that supports my personal growth.I had the wonderful opportunity to engage with the underprivileged kids through the FS community service programme. It was also a beautiful opportunity to cheer those kids up and make them happy.

Overall community service was a amazing experience since it allowed me to spend with the unprivellegd children and also create a friendly bond with them.Additionally, I portrayed learner porfile attribute “communicators” by the adapting to thier standards to communication to make them feel more comfortable.
