This CAS experience chronicles the planning and execution of a Night Out for roughly 150 students. Our goal was to promote student interaction, offer fun activities outside the classroom, and ignite friendly competition. To manage a crowd of this size, we meticulously divided roles and responsibilities. In my role as organizing the night tournament, I focused on managing the teams and the sports.

Securing school approval and space : We met with the school administration to present our proposal, discussed security aspects, and received permission to use the designated areas of the school for the event, including gymnasiums or outdoor fields for the tournament.
Activity and entertainment planning: We researched and planned interesting activities. We also secured student volunteers to participate in the activities and help referee the tournament if possible.
Organizing the night tournament: We worked out the rules and format for the basketball, Football and badminton tournaments, taking into account factors such as team size, time limits, and appropriate age groups. We also secured judges (possibly experienced student volunteers)

LO2: Undertaking Challenges and Developing New Skills

Organizing a school event that included a night tournament presented several challenges. We had to: Balance the needs of various interests: We ensured that the activities appealed to a wide range of students, while maintaining the competitive spirit of the night tournament.
Tournament programming and logistics management: We created trade fairs and an efficient tournament schedule for selected sports, taking into account field availability, number of teams and appropriate breaks. This experience helped us develop programming and logistics management skills.
Ensure sportsmanship and safety: We created clear rules for the tournament and effectively communicated them to participants. We have also ensured proper supervision of all activities and tournament games. This experience improved our ability to prioritize security and fair play.

LO3: Initiating and Planning a CAS Experience

This project required initiative and ownership from the start. Recognizing the need for a community-building event that included friendly competition, we researched similar events and developed a specific plan tailored to our school environment and resources. This experience helped us improve our planning and organizational skills as well as our ability to initiate and lead others.

LO4: Perseverance and Commitment

In all planning processes there were unexpected obstacles such as time constrains. But overcomed it with the communicaton between volunteers and addition of time buffers. This experience demonstrated the importance of dedication, determination and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively.

The success of this event relied heavily on collaboration. We worked together to:

• Develop a cohesive plan: We effectively communicated ideas, divided tasks based on strengths, and ensured all aspects of the event (activities, tournament,) were well-coordinated.
• Delegate and manage tasks: We assigned responsibilities based on individual skills and interests, and checked in with each other to ensure progress.
• Resolve challenges collaboratively: When faced with obstacles, we discussed solutions as a team and implemented the best course of action.

This experience fostered our ability to work effectively in a team, value diverse contributions, and achieve a common goal.

Conclusion
Hosting a school night with a night tournament was a rewarding CAS experience. This allowed us to develop important organizational and communication skills while promoting community, school spirit and friendly competition. We learned valuable event management skills, but also gained a deeper understanding of the importance of teamwork, persistence and initiative.
