As part of my CAS experience, I chose basketball as a sport to play in school. This activity was not only an excellent opportunity to enhance my physical fitness but also a chance to develop teamwork, perseverance, and reflective thinking.
Learning Outcome 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
When I started playing basketball, I realized I was good defense but needed to improve my shooting accuracy. By regularly practicing and seeking feedback from teammates and coaches, I was able to make significant progress. This experience taught me the importance of focusing on both my strengths and areas for growth to improve and become a better player.
Learning Outcome 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
Basketball required dedication, as improvement came only with consistent practice and effort. Attending regular training sessions, working on my skills during free time, and staying motivated even after initial setbacks reflected my commitment. Over time, I developed greater resilience and discipline, which not only improved my game but also shaped my overall mindset.
Learning Outcome 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
Basketball is inherently a team sport, and success relies on effective collaboration. Playing with my team taught me how to communicate clearly, trust others, and strategize collectively. Whether it was setting up plays or supporting each other during tough matches, teamwork became a critical aspect of our performance and my learning experience.
This CAS activity enriched my school life and helped me grow physically, mentally, and socially. It reinforced my belief in the power of persistence, self-improvement, and the importance of working together towards shared goals.
