Our school has always upheld cherished traditions like this one, and they have been a source of joy and inspiration for generations of students. As a child, I eagerly anticipated this annual occasion, looking forward to discovering the creative additions the school would unveil and gaining new knowledge through engaging activities. Each year, this event stood out as a highlight, sparking curiosity and excitement. This time, however, the opportunity to take part in organizing the event and contributing to its success felt like a unique and fulfilling challenge. My goal was to help create the most innovative and memorable mela to date, and I saw it as a chance to both honor tradition and bring fresh ideas to the table.

LO3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

Organizing this event demanded a significant amount of planning, coordination, and effective time management. With numerous tasks to complete and a tight schedule, I had to carefully map out every step of the process to ensure we could meet our goals. Personally, I have always struggled with staying organized and managing my time effectively. Planning out tasks and breaking them into manageable steps often felt overwhelming for me. However, given the limited time we had to prepare, I was forced to step up and improve my organizational skills.

By prioritizing tasks, setting clear deadlines, and delegating responsibilities, I not only managed my own workload more efficiently but also supported my teammates whenever they needed assistance. This process taught me the importance of structure and proactive planning, helping me accomplish more in less time. Looking back, I realize how valuable this experience has been in helping me develop the ability to initiate and organize activities. These skills will undoubtedly benefit me in future projects and endeavors, whether in academic settings or beyond.

LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

Additionally, this experience significantly enhanced my collaboration and communication skills. Working in a team required us to make decisions collectively, which often proved challenging since everyone had differing opinions. For example, deciding on the design of clay and the specific techniques we should teach sparked a lively debate, as each team member had their own creative ideas and preferences. Finding common ground was not always easy, and there were moments of disagreement that needed to be resolved.

However, through open communication, active listening, and a willingness to compromise, we were able to reach a consensus. This process encouraged me to become more open-minded and considerate of others’ perspectives. I also became more confident in voicing my own ideas, learning how to express them clearly and persuasively. By embracing collaboration, I came to understand that teamwork is not just about dividing tasks but also about respecting everyone’s contributions and working together toward a shared goal.
