Donate Food

My CAS experience of donate food was very interesting and challenging as for this CAS me and my friends had to buy food for the needy and distribute it to them. This CAS is counted under service. For this experience we did 3 food drives where in drives we donated different food items like lentils, rice, biscuits and all and in some drives the store owners from where we were purchasing our food even provided us with free water bottles to donate them as well as we were donating to the needy and they also wanted to support our cause. We also faced few challenges like handling the crowd as in one incident the everyone were just coming up from anywhere and shouting from here and there to get the food and few were even drunk so they were making a ruckus so we had to decide to leave that place but they even planted stones beneath our cars so that we cannot leave. Like this we had to face few experiences but eventually most of them were friendly and even appreciated us.

LO1 Identify own strengths and develop areas for personal growth:

Through this experience, I recognized my ability to work collaboratively with others and communicate effectively in high-pressure situations. I also identified areas where I can improve my conflict resolution skills, particularly when faced with difficult crowds.

LO2 Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process:

The challenges faced during the food drives, such as managing crowds and handling unexpected situations, helped me develop my problem-solving skills and adaptability. I learned how to stay calm and make quick decisions under pressure.

LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience

Before each drive we had to plan everything that from where will we purchase food and where will we donate it. In most cases we were donating the food outside temples as there we were able to donate food easily and we could find more people around there too. Before each drive the plans that we created helped us a lot as with out it, it would have been very difficult for us to find people and donate food.

LO4 Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences:

Despite the challenges encountered during the food distribution, we remained committed to our cause. This experience taught me the value of perseverance and staying focused on the goal of helping those in need.

LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively

As we were working in a it was very easy for us to manage the crowd as the more the number of people the better we can handle the crowd also due to more number of people we could increase our budget of purchasing the food hence, working collaboratively helped us a lot in this experience.

LO6 Engage with issues of global significance:

This CAS experience highlighted the issue of hunger and food insecurity in our community. It made me more aware of the larger societal issues and motivated me to consider how I can contribute to making a positive change.

LO7 – Recognise and consider the ethics of choices and actions

We all selected this as our CAS experience because in our everyday lives we all used to see the people on the streets asking for food and a very few people helping them and due to this we decided that we can help them to so we made a choice to help the needy by donating food which is a ethical choice to make and we completed our drived ethically.
