As our CAS experience, I and some of the volunteers went to Hope school where we served food to several underprivileged children living in that area. That area was constructed by the government to provide homes to the underprivileged at a cheaper price and less rate of interest. We found out that other than us, some of the volunteers from other schools also come in that area to teach the children living in that area.

LO4- Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

In order to donate food, we went to the Hope school for 6 sundays. We went there for a couple of hours where we teached the students along with the volunteers of the schools, we played games with them, and at last we even served them food. The children living in that area were very undermotivated about studying because of which they would often not come to study but we found ways of making learning fun for them by organizing drawing sessions, fun games, and small tournaments.

LO6- Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.

Food donation engages with the SDG 2- zero hunger, and SDG 4- quality education. Parents of the children living in that area work as drivers, maids, or even laborers because of which they have very low wages to afford enough food for them and their children. The children living in that area also think that education is of no use and they will start working at a young age in order to provide money to their families.

LO7- Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions.

Coming from a financially stable background, we have always been privileged to eat whatever we want, study wherever we want, and buy whatever we want but when I went to donate food, I realized the value of food. I saw how those people begged for food and made just enough money to stay alive. This made me regret wasting food and not appreciating things that I have and the privilege that I have.
