Fs Got Talent was an event where one could showcase their talents on the stage. This was the second edition of the event.
I was part of the organizing committee and one of the event coordinators of the whole show. Organizing and handling an event for me a was big challenge for me, it came with a lot of responsibilities and planning along with teamwork. This opportunity gave me a chance to improve my leadership and collaborative skills. Four event coordinators including me planned the whole thing from scratch. This event included a lot of segments, from music performances to fashion shows, it had everything. This event included a lot of planning and teamwork, we had to manage all the form responses, resource lists, flow lists, and what not. Not only this, but before making a major step we had to get permission from our supervisors, which took a lot of time and patience.
LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
While managing the whole event, it was very tough to handle a lot of people at the same time. I had to resolve their queries and calm them down before their performances. Throughout the planning and execution of the event, I faced a lot of challenges. The event helped me understand my strengths and weaknesses. I saw that I was not very communicative with the participants, and I lacked communication skills. Whereas, I also thought that I had good leadership skills, as I was able to collaborate with my team easily and get the work done on time. I also had good time management skills, because I was easily able to devote time to the project while also focusing on my academics.
LO2:Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills
The whole event was a big challenge, and I had to overcome these challenges to make the event a success. The main challenge for me was communication with the audience and participants as there were a lot of participants who had a lot of doubts about the event. Catering to all those doubts was a huge challenge for me, even though it took me a while to understand, I eventually got the hang of it and I overcame this challenge.
LO3 – Initiate and plan a CAS experience.
As we were the event coordinators, we also needed some volunteers who could help us during the process of the event. We initiated a CAS experience for the 3 volunteers who helped us during the event and planning.
LO5 – Demonstrate skills and benefits of working collaboratively
One main thing I learned during the event was collaboration and cooperation, without the team I could not have planned the whole event single-handedly. The teamwork came in handy when there were a lot of people to handle in the event and planning. Teamwork taught me how easier work can get when you work together, it also taught me how responsibilities can be shared amongst people and how you should always trust your teammate.
All in all, FS got talent was a huge success which taught us a lot of things and skills. Event management was not my thing at first, and I was very bad at leadership. But, After the event I can say that I have got better at these skills and learned a lot.
