I’ve been playing ultimate frisbee for almost 6 years and it is something I am very passionate about. Recently, I got a chance to play frisbee and represent in the Juniors Master Ultimate championship, in the Asia oceanic region. From this opportunity I learnt a lot and improved myself. Our team trained for this tournament for almost 3-4 months and the hard work paid off.
LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
When we got the opportunity to play for team India we were overwhelmed and also very scared because we were the smallest in the under 20 category, and we lacked a lot of skills. Then we started training for the tournament with our coaches. While training we identified our own strengths and weaknesses, and our coaches helped us grow and play better.
LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Training for this tournament was one of the biggest challenges, we had only four months with our team to train and sync. We had to manage our academics along with the training, sometimes I slept only 4 hours a day so that I could study and also practice frisbee.
LO4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
I and the whole team was very committed to this tournament, we used to train almost everyday. This commitment made a good schedule of my day and led to me being more planned and organized. In the tournament we were committed towards winning, even though we knew that it was a very though team and there was a slim chance of winning. This commitment showed our passion towards the sport.
LO5:Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
We had worked collaboratively for almost 4 months and that collaboration paid off. Even though we came 6th we learnt a lot from the tournament and the major learning was teamwork and skill building in a team. When we practiced together we learnt many skills that we could not have done alone.
